Amanda, usually porches (if I gather correctly, yours is composed of wood, right?) are very much similar to decks. So, what do you want to do, just wash it or totally change the outlook of it?

In the latter case, you need to determine if the porch, like a deck, needs a sealer. Here's a great handyman article on this below:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Decks_Porches_Know_When_Wood_Deck_Needs_To_Be_Resealed.htm

If it does need an additional sealing coat, here's yet another handyman article on how to go about doing that:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Decks_Porches_Seal_Wood_Deck.htm

And then, if you choose to paint your porch, here's a tip on repainting it (similar to decks):

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Decks_Porches_Paint_A_Deck_With_Bristle_Broom.htm

Hope this helps.

Remove what you can without damaging the decking, then apply kerosene on a brush & rag and rub away. It may take some time to dissolve it, but you will get there in the end!
Lots of elbow grease required here! A PUN

Cheers!!

it probably needs heated. maybe a blow dryer. If your patio is concrete, you could even use a heat gun ... they get a lot hotter.

Is it wood or vinyl? If it's wood, is it painted or just a natural weatherproof finish? Detergent can be used for vinyl or painted wood, there are products made specifically for these surfaces.

Use a bleach and water solution. Depending on what kind of cleaning. Is it mold or just dirt? If its light mold or dirt than you can go 1 part bleach and 3 parts water with a pressure washer. If the mold or dirt is heavy then try 2 parts bleach and 2 parts water.

Depends how much work you want to put into it. Me I'd pressure wash it and see what it looks like. It sounds like it could have different finishes. I'd probably repaint after the power wash. But it is your house. Don't get in over your head. Ask a professional. Roxanne
